Madison, April 17, 2009—Greetings Friends! This past Friday was the "Day of Silence," a protest which is annually gaining momentum in schools all over the United States. The "official organizational sponsor" of the Day of Silence is the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network, known as GLSEN (pronounced "glisten"). Each year on this day, many thousands of homosexuals and their sympathizers vow to remain quiet throughout the school day in order to (in their own words) "make schools safer for all students, regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity/expression" (see dayofsilence.org). This group GLSEN has more than safety on its mind. It is known for its radical activism and promotion of the sodomite lifestyle. While acceptance of this yearly protest grows, the persecution of normal, God-fearing students is also increasing. There have been many reports of students and teachers getting in trouble themselves for speaking out against the Day of Silence. And, many are questioning whether students have the right to remain silent during classes when called upon by a teacher, no matter the cause. I strongly urge you to read the very short article here. Due to the political correctness of this issue, and the growing homosexualizing of this nation, many are finding it dangerous to speak the truth about the perversion called homosexuality. On Friday, Frontline Ministries brought the Gospel directly to the students at the University of Wisconsin in Madison.

We arrived at about 10:45 a.m. and set up two signs. I began to preach a short while later. There were some large tractors and diggers working nearby, and it was difficult to be heard over this noise. Brother Bill Landerholm arrived from Rockford and set up his banner. I introduced myself to him, and asked him if he wanted to preach. He jumped right in and started preaching. Luckily the machines soon finished what work they were doing and we had relative quiet for the rest of the day. Brother Bill was able to gather about twenty students who engaged him in some debate, but after a short time Bill's voice was very tired, and I jumped up and preached for the rest of the day, for about five hours. Eventually the crowd grew to over 200 students, and I also saw in the crowd a few professors as well.

Each year I sense an even more wicked atmosphere. When I was the same age as these students, there was not the antagonism against God that I see these students display. The hippie and free-love generation that grew up gave birth to and taught their children their anti-Christ views. Even thirty years ago as a young Christian witnessing in the streets I never heard people have such clearly defined anti-Christ views. They seem to have honed their objections very finely, although many of their views seem parroted and canned. My son David heard one woman Friday commenting to her approximately ten-year-old son as they walked by about how we were preaching hate. The crowd also numerous times accused our message as a message of hate, because that's how they are being brainwashed. I made it very clear many times that I don't hate them, and that God doesn't hate them, but that our message is one of hope; hope based on the fact that Jesus, and what he did for us on the cross, can set us free from a life of sin. One girl was actually crying with tears streaming down her face as she told us how our message (the Gospel) contributes to an atmosphere where people want to kill homosexuals. I told her that that was the farthest thing from our purpose.

In the photo to the right, you can see me because of my hat. My son David and my daughter Nicole are holding signs to mt right, and, and preacher Bill Landerholm in the red shirt has the large banner to my left. On my platform behind me are two sodomites. One is holding a sign that says, "Smile: There Is No Hell." The crowd was really starting to grow. As I began to preach, I made it very clear to them that God is not the author of confusion. God would not make ten ways to reach him. And neither would God leave it to us alone to make up religions and allow us to choose the one which we thought best. I interspersed these ideas with relevant Scripture and wove a message of hope, that they might escape the sin that destroys them. Of course, their rebellion always bring them back to the same protests: "You're basing your beliefs on a book written by men!" To which I always reply, "What would you accept as revelation from God?" One student cried out that he would accept a pillar of fire. I told them that he would probably just explain it away as some type of natural phenomenon. Then I told them the story from Acts chapter four about the disciples who were brought before the council, the very council that admitted that "...indeed a notable miracle has been done by them [and] is known to all who live in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it. But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they no longer speak to anyone in this name. And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus."

We went over the same ground with evolution as well. I told the crowd that there is not one shred of evidence which supports the theory of evolution, to which one boy answered, "And there's no proof for God either." To this I answered that all of creation testifies to God's creation. Order, laws of physics, love, beauty...

Upon seeing our sign which has Catholicism listed under false hopes, a girl called out, "What's wrong with Catholicism?" So I spoke up and said, "I know that many of you had a Christian upbringing, and Jesus warned us to beware of false Christs. He said that many would come saying, 'I am Christ,' and would deceive many. So, how many of you can name any false Christs?" No hands went up, so I filled in the blanks. "There have been a number of false Christs. Jim Jones was a false Christ. Father Divine was a false Christ. Sun Myung Moon of the Unification church is a false Christ. Those are tangible false Christs that you could shake hands with. But there are other false Christs which are intangible: the Christ of Mormonism is a false Christ, because it is a Christ not found in the Bible. And the Jesus of Catholicism is not found in the Bible either." I expounded to them how the Catholic Jesus cannot save to the uttermost, as the Bible states, but that a Catholic that dies with unconfessed venial sins may need to suffer untold torture in purgatory for who knows how long to pay for their own sins. I told them that, according to God's word, Jesus died once for all, but the Catholic Christ is sacrificed over and over thousands of times a day throughout the world in defiance of God's word. These things are good for Catholics to hear, as many of them have fled due to their confusing false religion. The real Jesus can set them free.

A few students came out with a black, 15-foot-wide banner with white letters that said "Gay? Fine By Me!" They stood for hours as I preached, but drew little attention, for it is the word of God which is sharper than a two-edged sword! The preaching of God's word is often irresistible to people, and I continue to be amazed that people will listen for hours on end.

The students at the left are holding signs that say, "Thank God for Bisexuals." My daughter Nicole is holding one of our signs as she looks up a Scripture verse. The girl on the left has duct tape over her mouth for the Day of Silence. Most of their parents would be ashamed and embarrassed by their foolishness. These students are incredibly blind, and have consciences that have been "seared with a hot iron" (1st Timothy 4:2). Their sins have made them callous, until they no longer feel the guilt they once felt. And they not only sin, but are totally outspoken about the most vile of perversions, and they have little if any restraint when it comes to their foul mouths in front of more innocent people, like children.

I continually remind myself that it is my job to preach the word, for "how shall they hear without a preacher?" (Romans 10:13,14). I can rest in the fact that faith comes by hearing God's word, as God tells us. I can't merely spew out Scriptures to a crowd, I do need to respond to their questions with whatever logic I have in me. But ultimately it is between the hearers and God. I do my job, and they now have the means by which to make an informed decision. At the same time, looking around at the crowd it is easy to imagine the time that is coming where the entire world will worship Satan: "...and all the world wondered after the beast. And they [all the world] worshiped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshiped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? Who is able to make war with him?" (Revelation 13:3,4).

When the crowd was the largest, the fairy with the, "Smile: There Is No Hell" sign arranged for two lesbians to kiss each other up on a platform. Just before they kissed, he yelled out loudly to the crowd to get their attention. The crowd turned to look, and the lesbians went at it for a bit with their despicable act. A great applause went up from the crowd, with many whoops and hollers. But just as quickly the attention turned back to the preaching, which truly is usually the most interesting thing going. At one point, a girl yelled out that those who were celebrating the Day of Silence should head over to another place to gather for their march up State Street. Funny, if anyone left at that point, I didn't see them. I had a huge crowd for at least two hours after that, and these were mostly people mocking God and supporting sodomy. You'd think that at that point they would have all left to go on their little march, but nothing like the public preaching of God's truth incites people to think, to challenge, and to doubt.

When the crowd laughed at the perverted antics of Scanner Dan, a well-known, local and very physically filthy street person, I called out to the crowd that it was sad that they laughed at such perversion. One girl said loudly, "Hey, not all of us laughed." Loudly enough for all to hear, I told her "I know, I've noticed you there." Even during all of the insanity of a mob like this, there are always people mingling there who quietly take it in. These silent observers don't really need to ask questions, as there are plenty of questions being fielded which cover just about any aspect of evangelism one might think of. One girl in particular never even looked up. I noticed her a couple times standing just in front of me, but just behind the front row. She had a very serious, almost worried countenance as she looked toward the ground, thinking heavily about the conversation. She was not defiant at all. I rather sensed a bit of the fear of God. And the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom, as the proverb says.

With this crowd, I touched a bit on the subject of conscience. Where does it comes from, and what is its purpose? I also, in this same vein, included talk about morals, and why—in a world that is (according to so many at the university) merely a product of millions of years of evolution—would one person's morals be any better than anyone else's. I chose two people from the crowd, and assigned morals to them. One believed that it was OK to steal for a living. The other, naturally, believed it was wrong to have her things stolen from her. They protested that it is collective thinking which makes us know some things are wrong and others are OK, for example, that society and parents teach us that stealing is wrong. I pointed out that without an external standard (God), then all of these morals are merely opinions, and that they are subject to change, depending on the society. In that case, stealing would never just be wrong. So, the person who thinks stealing is OK is really not at fault. Sure, a society could make laws to prevent or punish such actions, but the act would not be truly wrong. After this, I told them that even though homosexuality is done between "consenting parties," it is still wrong with God. This of course drew howls of protests, which led to even more profitable debate. These conversations always go around and around, coming back to "there's no proof for God," etc., but the beauty is that while 200 or more kids stand and debate for five hours, the word goes out, and in some minds a spark of the truth begins to burn, and it's at that point that God can deal with them. These are seeds planted, and seeds watered. We do both. God brings forth the increase.

One young man, who I call the "loudmouth," had muscled his way into the crowd and began his own pro-homo rant. He spewed false statistics and twisted "truths." I pointed out some of his contradictions to the students. He had used some lies to try to show that God approved of sodomy, such as the Greek origins of certain words in Romans 1. He also used lies to show that God was not against homo marriage. With his booming voice and pro-perversion stance he elicited some applause from the audience. After his rant about Romans 1 Greek, I told the students that it was funny that they applauded when they didn't even really know what he was talking about, and after his rant about gay marriage, I pointed out to the crowd that it seemed strange that if God approved of homo marriage, why is it that every marriage in the Bible is a heterosexual marriage. He considers himself a Christian, hands out SoulForce pro-homo literature, and says he has a gay partner with whom he has vowed to remain chaste until they are allowed to be married legally. I told him, "Oh, you'll have your chance, but it won't really be marriage. You and the state can call it what you want, but it's not marriage." When he originally burst into my circle he said he wanted to have a fair exchange of ideas with me, but after awhile he just would not shut up, so I said goodbye to the crowd and walked off. He continued to talk loudly after I walked away, but the crowd dispersed. I must say that this man is very zealous, and puts to shame most Christians, who couldn't debate their way out of a wet paper bag.

Please pray for this ministry. We hope to be able to bring the truth to this wicked and adulterous generation for years to come. And please make a donation by going to our website (see below) and clicking on the donate button. We do have expenses with printing literature and signs and for gas. Our plan again for this summer is, among other things, to spend each and every Saturday night in Wisconsin Dells, preaching right on Broadway Street. There, we get through to many more families and even church-going families, and we pass out more literature than we do at the colleges. Though many do take our handouts, college kids, for the most part, say "no thanks" to our literature.

Thanks for being there, my friends. Be bold. Don't be ashamed of our Lord. Be a faithful soldier. If anyone wants to join us, you are always welcome. You don't need to say anything or even hand out anything. Come and observe. God will definitely bless your heart to experience this process.
