Many thanks to our friends for the 20,000 tracts!  see tract 0.5 MB
Friday, April 25, 2008 was the homosexuals' (and sympathizers') Day of Silence. Their own website at dayofsilence.org, says that this yearly event "...brings attention to anti-LGBT [lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, lane_tech_20080425_01.jpg (101488 bytes)transgender] name-calling, bullying and harassment in schools." The Day of Silence is organized by glsen.org (the Gay Lesbian Straight Educational Network). One of their goals (from the glsen.org site) is to have all school kids "...accept and respect all people, regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity..." (are we expected to accept and respect thieves, abortionists and child molesters as well?). But the homosexual agenda in America is much more vast and sinister than this. Homosexuals want all Americans, and the world, to accept the disgusting things they do as normal. In October of 2007, California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed into law SB 777. This law will effectively begin the legal indoctrination of America's school children to think of homosexuality as an acceptable alternate lifestyle, right from kindergarten! According to the Family Policy Network (familypolicy.net) SB 777 will require any textbook purchased by [California] to meet the new standards of “'...non-discrimination' against 'sexual orientation.' Textbook publishers are unlikely to create separate versions of the same textbooks for states without such pro-homosexual legislation, resulting in scenarios where schoolchildren in states like Iowa, Texas, and Alabama learn how the deadly practice of homosexuality is both 'natural' and 'good.' " If you have any doubt as to the grave danger this puts school children into, just type "homosexual agenda" (in quotes) into any search engine, such as Google.com.

Each "Day of Silence," we go out to schools and distribute gospel tracts which confront the lies of the homosexual agenda. And we actively engage students with the gospel. We are a gospel ministry, and the gospel is central to all we do, even when focusing on specific issues. We minister on a variety of fronts... this is just one of them. And even our tracts which address homosexuality have a clear gospel message included (see tract). This April we were in Chicago, and we spoke with the students at Lane Technical High School (at Western and Addison Avenues). Lane Tech has an attendance of over 4000 students, most of whom have swallowed the liberal worldview: that we have evolved from non-living matter without intelligence, that morals are relative rather than God-given, and that religions are man-made. We passed out hundreds of tracts, which we were able to have printed because of the generous donations of our friends.

We had numerous effective conversations with these high schoolers. Many seeds were planted. In the second photo I am reading the Bible to two boys who were very respectful and asked good questions for quite a long time. We spoke to dozens of kids and it is always humbling to know that you might be the first one giving someone an understandable gospel message. The photo at the top shows Stephanie and Nicole going head-to-head with a group of dissenters (click it to enlarge it). The photo to the left is of my two boys David (13) and Jacob (6). The photo was taken between waves of kids coming in. Parents drop them off at the curb, and city buses deliver loads at a time... but most disappear quickly into the school (this was taken in the morning, before school). We did have some good interaction before school, but at that time most kids come just before classes and enter the school right away. It is usually after school when we have a better time sharing the message.

We encourage all Christians to share the good news with as many people as they can. I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, Paul said, for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes. What an honor it is to be used of God to plant seeds and bring forth a harvest. God said that his word will not return void, but will accomplish the task it was sent to do. Our job is to deliver the word to the world, and to help those in need. We should work while there is time and opportunity to work, for as Jesus said, "the night is coming when no man can work." Tribulation and persecution will limit what we can do, just as those in many communist countries right now are being limited by persecution. Jesus called it night. The "night" of the Great Tribulation will be much worse than the "night" of the Inquisition or the Holocaust. We should work while it is day. Redeem the time, for the days are evil. You are Ambassadors for Christ. Do something, even if you can't do it full time. We also recommend, if you are interested in supporting foreign missions, that you look into Gospel for Asia. What makes that ministry unique is its practice of financially supporting native missionaries who already are familiar with the local languages and customs. These missionaries don't just minister for a few years, only to retire and return to the comfort of America; they are there for good, because it's their home. Please, investigate this ministry, and if you can, please read founder K. P. Yohannan's book Revolution in World Missions.

We did have an incident with the police. After school, an officer got out of his squad and told us that because there had been threats against the school children that day (doubtful), the school administrators would rather that we leave. He was obviously playing hard guy, hoping that we would pack it up and go. I asked the officer if we were breaking any laws. He wouldn't answer (I knew we weren't breaking any laws). When I nicely informed him that we were totally within our rights to stand there, he said he would call a supervisor. He did this to try to intimidate me. Stephanie took about five photos before he threatened her also. The supervisor who arrived was an obnoxious blond, but at least she didn't seem like a lesbian. She told us we were blocking the sidewalk, which we were not, and told us if we didn't move that she would have us arrested. I attempted to explain to her that city ordinances allowed for people to stand and talk on sidewalks, as long as they did not hinder people from passing. She tried the "You're picketing" line and the "You need to keep moving" tactic, but I shot down both of those. As I respectfully tried to explain these things to her, she yelled louder and louder that she would not listen to me. I asked her if we could stand on the grass between the sidewalk and the street, and she said (yelled) that that would be all right. She threatened us again with arrest if we ventured back onto the sidewalk, and then left. Later, the male officer returned, called me over to his car, and was very nice to me. I believe that it is rare for officers to encounter anyone that knows anything about how the law works, and he was a bit flustered. When he was done talking to me, he offered me his hand to shake. It pays to be polite, even when standing your ground.

One "bonus" was that two Mormon missionaries came down the sidewalk on their ten-speeds. I spent about a half hour debating with them. They were surprised that someone knew so much about their religion. They are not in the habit of telling their prospects the truth about what they really believe until the people are well entrenched in their lies (like the fact that Mormons believe that they will become Gods, birth spirit children, and rule over their own planets). These two boys were very, very nice. They had grown up as Mormons, and so were filled with the lie. A few of the Lane Tech students listened as we debated, and got a good education on the difference between the gospel and Mormonism.

This month we will be ministering at the University of Wisconsin for at least three full days. These visits are usually very fruitful, as many seeds are planted and we often have dozens of students at a time listening as we field questions from the crowd. On the 26th of May, my entire family is leaving for Italy to visit Evi's family. They will be taking many tracts with them written by me and translated into Italian by Evi. My girls will be there for seven weeks, but Evi and the boys will return after a month. While they are gone, I will no doubt join some others in ministry in various places. Brother Charles
