I was able to purchase a brand new Kwikset SmartScan Automatic Deadbolt for an outrageously low price, and I'm passing that on to you! SmartScan Locks sell for over $200 in many places, but you can get one for that price installed! And... I'll give you a good demonstration on how to program it. It's very easy to do!

This lock opens by reading your fingerprint, and can be programmed to accept up to 50 users who will never need a key. Imagine never having to fumble for your keys when your arms are full! All you do is walk up to the door, swipe your fingertip over the scanner, and the lock motor, which runs on 4 AA batteries, opens the bolt for you. Then, just turn the knob and you're in. No messing around with keys. You'll wonder how you ever got along without it!

The Kwikset SmartScan Deadbolt also has a SmartKey rekeying feature. This is a recent development by this company, and is really cool. You can rekey the lock to a different key in about ten seconds. I'll show you how to do it when I install the lock for you. Why does it have a key? You may need to give someone a key who isn't around to scan their finger, or, in the case of something failing, you can still get in (slim chance).

Going out of town?

Good idea: Give your neighbor your house key to check in on your home.

Best Practice: Buy a Kwikset SmartKey product and re-key your lock to a temporary key for your neighbor. Re-key back to your permanent key upon return. Or install a Kwikset SmartScan and provide a temporary scan for your neighbors to use. When you return it can be deleted, just to be safe.

Coming home late?

Good Idea: Have your keys ready so you won’t fumble for them once you are at the door.

Best Practice: A good solution would be to install a Kwikset SmartScan so you don't need to worry about keys at all.
